Fans of The Simpsons were stunned and left utterly confused when their famous cartoon series decided to air what seemed like to be the show’s series finale.
Sunday may have been the weekend for some but for others, it was a day that they felt was the end of an era. The season 36 episode dubbed Bart’s birthday was called out as a special Fox presentation as it had the former writer Conan O’Brien hosting the gala that was Oscar-themed for the show’s send-off.
It was a huge honor to be with all of you for this series’ season finale, the animated version of O’Brien explained. He added how it’s all so true and that Fox deciding to end the show was a huge and special part of his early career. He further got emotional and spoke about how this all meant so much to him.
Several clips were similarly shared from what seemed to be unaired attempts for this series finale where leading viewers flocked online to voice their thoughts and general confusion on what just happened.
“Wait, the Simpsons just aired the season finale? What does this mean?”- one anxious fan revealed online. Another spoke about how they are yet to see a single episode of the show but seeing that come to an end after decades is surreal.
